Ponderings of a Scientist

moderately useless musings on the World as I see it

Cry me a river…pleeaassee!

To all my readers if you think “mainstream conservative” is an oxymoron, please vote in November.  I don’t care if you call yourself a; liberal, democrat, republican, or monkey - most American’s do not find today’s “conservates” (think money loving, financially irresponsible, greedy, war mongering, etc.) mainstream at all.

And… if I hear one more republican try to blame the democrats for their recent demise I think I’m going to drive my car off the road (and since I’m now responsible for two lives, that wouldn’t be good!).  I swear NPR is broadcasting so many Republican interviews just to make us non-mainstreamers angry enough to vote, but I can’t take it anymore!  Yesterday, I heard Carl Rove’s interview on all things considered and according to him; “You (Robert Siegel) are entitled to your math, however the math says the Republicans will win both houses of Congress.”  and he went on in this pompous tone for God-knows how long, I shut off the radio!

I hate our current group of politicians!  I hate that this country is divided down partisan lines, thanks to the antics of politicians and the media!  I’m not even that much of a fan of our electorial options in November, but I think new has to be better than old.  So I will be voting against the incumbents this year and will hope dearly that we get some campaign finance reform before the next election (yeah right!) so we have a chance of seeing some quality candidates!

It’s terribly disheartening…. and it boggles my mind how some people I know can still support the group of politicians in office…

That said, I wish people would stop reminding me about the election. I have a boatload of work to get done to get the election results section done on NHPR’s website. Sigh.

No rest till election season’s over.

I read the site a lot but often I can’t think of anything profound to say other than ditto.

Every now and again I go to a legislative committee meeting and am heartened that there are intelligent careing people trying to do their best.

Two bad there are so many jerks.

I have had the opportunity to meet with the Chief Justice (NH) and I was actually impressed.

Like I was trying to say the other night. At certain points in history, for some reason, the populous of a country feels it needs to revert back to small children and votes in people who will tell them what is best and keep the monsters in the closet. Things are never black and white but sometimes people want them to be, I guess.

P.S. Maybe Carl Rove is the impetus for No Child Left Behind? He seems confused.
