 Guten Morgen

November 11, 2005 at 1:53 pm  |  politics

I awoke this morning tired. I have not slept well in the last couple of nights. So I turned on the TV (which always defaults back to the Hotel channel and sets the volume to fucking loud). On it was our president doing his speaking thing. There are a couple of things that I found interesting. First was his continuous comparison of the ‘war on terror’ to the ‘cold war’… this is probably the one thing in the whole speech I would not argue with him on. Nothing like fighting a concept. Though, I am pretty sure that intimidation and threats is not the best way to get someone to agree with you (I guess that comment can go for Bush and the ‘terrorists’).

The other thing I noticed is that he would often cough to stop the smirk he’d get when he was applauded. It makes me feel that he is either an egomaniac or lying to me. It makes me feel uncomfortable that someone like that has so much say in what happens around me.

I have a bunch more to say about a bunch more things, but there are things to do, people to see, e&c.

  2. maybe bush is a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B.

finally a democrat rebuttal (Reid) actually said something worth saying, at which point Pelosi immediately reminded me of one of the reasons why I don’t consider myself a democrat (by criticizing Bush for politicizing the holiday, which is exactly what she is doing).

Vote Fortier ‘24, I’ll figure out a race to run in by then.

  3. My comment is that politicians should stop calling each other on doing political stuff: politicizing holidays, playing politics, e&c. This is hypocritical, you are a politician, that is what you do and what you are doing! If are not politicizing stuff I would not vote for you because you would be an idiot.

    ‘24 eh?

  4. I know what you mean about that smirk - it’s why I avoid all video of Bush - he seems like he’s either a child who’s up to something, or he’s incredibly arrogant. Either way, it’s annoying.

If it means anything… I heard, from someone who attended the Veterans Day speech, that he was surprised at how few Tobyhanna Army Depot employees actually attended, and that there were a lot of empty seats at the gathering.
(I live about 20 miles from Tobyhanna, PA.)
